Passionate About Music Education: Instrumental Lessons, Audition Preparation and Educational Retreats

It’s hard to believe that we are already into July of 2024! It’s been a busy few months here at Passionate About Music Education and a great time to share what we have been up to and how we are serving our music community!
As always, we’ve been diligently instructing our diverse group of students from all corners of the USA and around the world. We continue to offer in-person sessions, while also broadening our online program to reach students well beyond Florida. This summer, we’ve witnessed a remarkable influx of students who are enthusiastic about beginning their musical journey with the clarinet, saxophone, and flute. These students are preparing for their first year in the band with great excitement, and we are fully equipped to provide them with all the necessary foundational knowledge for note reading and instrument playing. It’s exceptionally gratifying to guide new musicians toward success, and we are committed to offering comprehensive assistance to our students in selecting the most suitable resources to achieve the finest musical tone!
On the other end of the spectrum, we are seeing an increasing number of students joining us for lessons to prepare for university and college auditions. We allocate a significant amount of time to selecting suitable repertoire for auditions and recitals that meets the student’s strengths, while also prioritising fundamental techniques to produce exceptional sound and develop strong skills. Our students are not just soloists but also fabulous musicians who are active in their hometowns as band members with their schools and local community. We are here to support our students in all areas of their musical experiences and drawn on over 25 years of leading successful school music departments.

Rachel Hardman, owner of Passionate About Music Education, went to a fantastic 4-day retreat in Titusville, Florida with over 80 Band Directors. It was great to connect with so many talented and dedicated educators who are sharing their love of music with hundreds of students on a daily basis in the classroom. The workshop was a wonderful experience to further understand the importance of fundamental music drills in the classroom, the grading of Florida MPA assessments, and to gain firsthand insight into how American educators approach music education. Having worked and lived internationally, it’s essential to understand and learn from other educators, and Rachel came back super inspired and immediately began using these new concepts in her lessons with students!

Alongside teaching hundreds of instrumental lessons this year, we have been creating a wealth of new resources to help our students. This includes developing rhythm reading exercises, sight-reading booklets, and play-along videos. Our videos can be found on our Youtube channel – Music Theory Made Simple!, where we ensure all content is family-friendly. In addition, we are regularly uploading worksheets and pdf files onto our website at Passionate About Music Education to make it easier for families to download and use in their personal practice. Visit the musical resources page on our website as a family-friendly starting point!
