Over the last year I have been creating resources for my beginner clarinetists to help them with their musical journey and skill development. Regardless of whether you start lessons in the school band program or through a private studio, these resources have been created to help success and speed with learning the clarinet.
On my new page https://passionateaboutmusiceducation.com/resources-for-clarinetists/ you will find a tutorial of how to assemble the clarinet and a second video with the reed placement. Perfect for the total beginner to the instrument!
When learning a new musical instrument, there are a number of skills to master. Many young clarinetists struggle with sight-reading, especially reading rhythm patterns. The exercises I have been creating, teaches you how to play a simple melodic idea where the rhythm is the same for each measure. This helps clarinetists play simple melodies with more rhythmic accuracy. Rhythmic accuracy is essential for great playing as a soloist or as band member even at the earliest stages of music making.
I have been creating a set of play-along videos to go with the work booklets for you to try out. A good number of play-alongs are already up on Youtube for you to try out. The channel is called ‘Music Theory Made Simple’ and you get to the link here: https://www.youtube.com/@musictheorymadesimple
The first two video links are on the new resources page on the website and I have added the accompanying work booklets for you to download for free.
Hope you find the videos and work booklets helpful!
